Heartwood Matriarch
The World 8 boss: she heals herself on a timer, and the way to stop her is standing right in front of you.
The Matriarch is the only boss who undoes your damage while you deal it. Everything about the fight is built around her healing — and around the Ice Walls she raises, which are the answer to it.
Healing Pulse
- Restores 3% of her max HP, on a 6-second timer
- At most 2 pulses per phase, so she can never heal more than 18% across the whole fight
- Her phases never go backwards — healing cannot push her back into an earlier phase
- The cap is on pulses, not on time: a slow fight does not let her heal more
Ice Wall
- She raises the first wall 3 seconds in, then another every 12 seconds — but only ever one at a time
- A wall is a barrier, not an enemy: it never moves and never deals damage
- It holds 15% of her max HP and stands in front of her, so it takes your shots first
- Break it and her next Healing Pulse is pushed back, and she is left Thawed for 6 seconds (+25% damage taken)
- Walls drop nothing — they are worth breaking for the Thaw window alone
Phases and what she adds
- At 70% health she calls a Rimebound pack — 4 members, or 6 from a Chapter Boss
- At 35% she calls a second, larger pack — 6 members, or 8 from a Chapter Boss
- Below 35% she also works Frozen Roots every 8 seconds, snaring your fire rate for 2 seconds
- Each call fires once, so the fight gets busier but never loops
Break every wall on sight. A wall costs you a moment of damage and buys a delayed heal plus a 6-second window where everything you land hits 25% harder.
